Howth

We originally planned to make a little day-trip to the castle at Malahide today, but after waking up very late after our night out in Temple Bar, we missed our train by a few minutes. Instead of waiting around for the next train, we hopped on the DART (Dublin's light rail) to the little beach town of Howth. Luckily for me, this meant it was a fishing village with plenty of seafood. We got a great dinner: Meg had half a lobster and I had an amazing skate wing...I was happy. We plan on making it back to Howth and going up the big hill there, Ben Howth, to check out the view. It was a little late and windy today for us. And we will make it to Malahide very soon.

Howth stop on the DART.

Picture from the train of the beach...and clouds.

It was too windy to set our coffee down and take pics so we just had to hold them.

Very windy.

My hair looks amazing.
Meg decided to bring her little friend along for the ride.

Temple Bar

After a rough day in Waterford, we decided some Guinness and rowdy Irish singing was the cure. While we weren't, er, able to get pictures during the festivities, we got a few the next day at the scene of the crime...

A Long Trip to Waterford

Well, on Saturday Riley and I set out on a three and a half hour bus ride to Waterford with the sole purpose of going to the Waterford factory. After a migraine and motion sickness resigned me to laying down in the back seat for a few hours, we arrived to find out that the Waterford factory was, in fact, closed for another couple weeks. Despite the rough start, however, I found my Waterford crystal, we had a nice lunch, and enjoyed the scenery on the three and a half hour ride back. To make it all better, we just went out and drank when we got home.

That's right...palm trees in Ireland, lots of them.

One of the old structures in Ireland, dating back to the 11th century...Reginald's Tower.

Awww...Guinness

What better thing to do after leaving Jameson than walk to Guinness? Unfortunately the nice sunny day we had turned into more appropriate Irish weather...rain.

Meg thought the barley looked tasty.

This pictuer was taken for the sole purpose of capturing these lovely Bavarians. You've got to love the leiderhosen in Dublin.
The view of Dublin from the top. Dublin is not necessarily the most picturesque city when it's raining.

Meg is loving all the beer drinking.
I had to give her some help.

Qualified Irish Whiskey Taster

Our first stop of the day was at Jameson's Old Distillery. Turned out to be a very nice tour and I got to sample some whiskey at the end. Meg decided just to watch me do that.

This cat killed mice so well for Jameson they decided to stuff it 80 years ago so everyone on the tour could see it.
Meg is so proud of my whiskey tasting skills.

I will hang this next to my degrees some day.

Our New Nickname

Enough said.

An Evening at St. Stephen's Green

Well, we had an unusually sunny and warm day, so we thought we'd take an evening stroll through St. Stephens's Green, a park in the heart of Dublin. Hopefully we'll see plenty more sun, but I'm not holding my breath.

So pensive.
