Aran Islands

The only way to travel...

Oh that's right...I wore high heels all day.

Sweet.

This is just so ridiculously Irish.

This weekend we headed out to the west coast of Ireland, or the 'real Ireland' as many folk around here call it. It's a strange, beautiful land where people manage to fit two passing cars on a one lane road and speak the bizarre sounding ancient language that is Irish. Today, we took a ferry to the Aran Islands. These islands are truly remote and from another world. The largest one, Inis Mor-where we were today, has a whopping 900 inhabitants. Most of the landscape is covered in stone fences because...there are no trees! Imagine making a living there 100 years ago. The landscape was stunning and the weather was truly uncharacteristic for Ireland, that is...it was gorgeous! The Aran Islands are also home to famous piece of clothing...the Irish sweater!
