Scotland Day 2

On our second day in Scotland, we took a quick trip up the Royal Mile to Edinburgh Castle before heading out of town to Stirling to see Stirling Castle...lots of castles. I wanted to go to Stirling because I knew it had played a very important role in Scottish history, and by Scottish history, I mean Braveheart. Turns out it was actually quite important in Scottish history, Braveheart not withstanding,  and was a very cool place to visit. It had great views of the area and the town of Stirling was a very nice little Scottish town. After our visit to the castle, we hiked down the hill to the really cool, geometric mounds of the Royal Gardens. I realized if I had visited this town when I was 14, I would've worked my hardest to convince my parents to buy me all kinds of William Wallace crap...I loved Braveheart. And no, I didn't buy any.

After our visit to Stirling we made it back to Edinburgh and went out for a great dinner. I went for the authentic Scottish concoction of haggis and blood pudding (washed down with Belhaven, of course)...Mark and Meg thought I was going to get seconds I loved it so much.

Ramsay Lane...situated right off the Royal Mile

Robert the Bruce...I guess that whole beating the English thing made up for him betraying William Wallace...mostly.

The Royal Gardens

The Great Hall with the recently restored ceiling that was very impressive
Us trying to look royal
Mark pulled it off a little better

The tapestries displaying the "Hunt of the Unicorn"

An over the cannon shot that's aimed right at the Wallace Monument in the distance.

We couldn't fit the Union Jack in the picture

A cool carved tree.

The tastiest sounding chip flavor in the world.
